TripAdvisor goes from Average to Very Good with nowt inbetween. This is inbetween though. The room was a reasonable size, not huge, the TV quite small and positioned oddly. Armchair could not be moved to anywhere with the TV visible. Iron and board in wardrobe. Bathroom modern but shower only, no bath. Overall pretty clean and bright. I could be picky about minor cleaning stuff but nothing really worth noting. Very annoying... no power outlets near bed for phone charging - come on now, it's 2019. Bed firm, suited me, had a mattress protector. Beer prices pretty good. Main meal nicely cooked but starters and desserts way overpriced and limited choice. Not a proper restaurant as you have to order at the bar not at the table.
It's a 3.5 and I've been generous in rounding up. The problem is I've stayed in better hotels with larger rooms and big-screen tellies for the same money, though admittedly not in this area where it is an improvement on close neighbours. If I come back to Humberside for business I would consider this place for the night but maybe go out for food. Is it worth a detour or a specific visit as a "destination", probably not. Not step free to my room - I didn't notice accessible access or facilities but wasn't looking.
Mixed. Lots of positives for an overnight stop, a few niggles of enough significance to drop a star (or two if being mean). I will say that it is much improved compared to my previous visit some years ago. less
