Some excellent; some poor

First, the location: couldn't be better! Amenities: quite good. Our (golf buddy and me) room was spacious, comfortable with a fine view of the water and of the links. Very good breakfast. dinner in the restaurant was fine; not creative but okay.
Service: poor. The bathroom fan did not run, We reported that defect just after checking in for a four night stay. When we checked out it still did not work. Then the bath light switch stopped working, but I fixed that myself.
Now here's the big issue, still not resolved eight days after checking out. We checked out on a Friday to go to Edinburgh. When I checked in to the Edinburgh hotel I discovered to my horror that I had forgotten to clear the closet/wardrobe of shirts and trousers. I called the hotel, asked if my clothes had been retrieved (not) and asked that they be collected and readied for mailing to me. I further asked that I receive a confirming email . No email. After my return to the US I waited a few more days with no word from the hotel, then called reception. Apparently my clothes were still in the room, since I was then assured that they would be collected by housekeeping the next morning! It is now several more days later and I've still heard nothing. I may never see those clothes again.
Summary: excellent location; nice room; very good breakfast; okay dinner; nice bar; but housekeeping, maintenance, reception, responsiveness in need of vast improvement. less

Many thanks for your review. Having discussed this with reception and housekeeping we have located your clothes and they will be posted to the address provided by yourself on Monday. I understand that reception were in contact with you, although one message was sent to the wrong e mail address which we apologise for, the previous correspondence between yourself and the hotel was to obtain descriptions of the missing clothing which you kindly sent. As you will appreciate many, many items are left behind by guests and we regularly forward items as soon as possible. I apologise if the items were not sent as promptly as you would have wished.
