Arrived early morning after international flight and although we couldn't get into a room, we could have breakfast which was fantastic. I've seen various reviews here stating that the breakfast is bad but WOW. This was 6 Aussies first experience of 'continental' breakfast in America and we were blown away. In Australia a breakfast experience like that is fruit, toast, and cereal. In America it's waffles, scrolls, toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, yoghurt, fruit, and more! We were so impressed. Tip: if you're not from America the banana strawberry yoghurt that they have is so yummy. We were disappointed to find they didn't have it here in Australia 😓 lol
The room we had was just as we thought, we squished into the room with 6 people but it was fine. We didn't expect anything luxurious.
The location is okay. It's in a pretty rough area, we walked to find a place to buy SIM cards and walked 3km there and back so we saw all sorts of people. I never felt unsafe but it's definitely different. Perfect location if you just need somewhere close to the airport though. We also went to Santa Monica which was about a 20 min drive, and went to universal studios which took about an hour.
The service was a bit off for me. We had a very odd experience when we asked the reception staff to ring us two big taxis, and when they turned up there was a big fuss about cancelled taxis and it turned out the taxi company tried stuffing us around to get more money from us. I regret asking the woman at reception to help us because it seemed that she called her friends or people that they always call, and the company was not a good one. I'd google the most reputable company myself if I hadn't been exhausted after a long day.
Overall it was a good experience. less
