Every once in a blue moon, you come across a hotel that has a calm sense of concealed delight about it - a mixture of many things from the building itself, it's overall character, facilities, grounds, location, ambience and by no means least its service. Well, Best Western Plus Orton Hall Hotel & Spa is definitely one in that category for us.
As it's name suggests, it is not only a wonderfully ornate 17th century Manor House set in large wooded grounds with an on site old church but also a well appointed spa with treatments and relaxation in mind plus a nice generous indoor pool to go with it. Arranged around it, to the rear of the Manor house and tastefully built in a 'mews square' style, are the modern bedroom blocks, one in which was our room - nicely fitted with all modern hotel room necessities and a good en suite.
The breakfasts were really good and the service wonderful. You can eat in the restaurant in the stately old house or enjoy a pub dinner in the attached and owned Ramblewood Inn which we did - and was simply great - I recommend the Chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce!
On the specialist side, this venue is utterly superb for weddings - you couldn't want better and also very well equipped for conferences and business meetings too. Of course I've already mentioned the great spa facilities earlier. This venue captures the leisure and corporate fields so well without appearing ostentatious in either, just carrying it's elegant charm coupled with warm attentive service throughout.
We genuinely came away with that 'What a wonderful find and who would know all that was there' feeling which instantly translates as we're certainly returning. Yep, A real hidden gem we'd definitely go back to! less
