Not a 4-star experience.
There is nothing 'Plus' about this Best Western hotel outside Peterborough, and it was far from worth the £120 Sunday room rate that we paid. We chose the hotel with simple needs - a relaxing overnight with some time in the spa and intended to enjoy an evening of food and drink in the onsite bar. But the 'pub' attached to the hotel - the Ramblewood Inn - was far from welcoming and we chose a nearby pub instead to go to by taxi.
The building and decor are shabby and badly in need of a refurbish - everything from the carpets, to the mattress on our bed, even to the staff themselves, seemed tired. Our room and bed were large, but dark and with stained chairs and carpets. The breakfast was also disappointing - a cooked buffet served in what must once have been a beautiful dining room, with terrible coffee and a menu inviting us to order poached eggs 'off menu', which when they came had been cooked in so much vinegar that they were almost inedible.
Good points - the shower in our bathroom was good, the pool, steam room, jacuzzi and sauna good quality and more modern than the rest of the hotel. While in the spa, I picked up a magazine, the only magazine available that was not a local area freesheet, and was shocked to see that the publication date was 2006. I shouldn't have been shocked - after all it may have been the most modern part of the hotel. Will not go back. less
