This is my third stay at the Lee Wood, which I notice is now a Best Western Plus. Each time, I have had a clean, comfortable room and have enjoyed an excellent night’s sleep. A newspaper was delivered to my room which I enjoyed reading over a very tasty breakfast, served in the light, airy conservatory, of Derbyshire oatcakes (think crepe not the Scottish savoury biscuit) filled with cheese and bacon then grilled. Nice bread and yogurt offering too but sadly tinned or frozen fruits (not a deal-breaker, but fresh would be nicer!)
Hotel is at the top of the hill so a bit of a hike from the station (definitely recommend a taxi if you’re unfit or it’s raining) but it’s quiet and overlooks the cricket ground with nice views of the surrounding countryside.
Friendly and helpful staff throughout. All told, a good place to stay.
