I arrived very tired at 10pm and was met with a queue in reception, being dealt with by only one receptionist. There were only 3 groups of visitors before me. However, it was 40 minutes after my arrival that I finally checked in.During that time a number of other guests were coming down to reception to complain about various things in their rooms so not a great sign and I was also a little disconcerted that there was a full-on security guard standing in reception.
Once in my room the wireless internet connection wouldn't work for me (possibly because I was in the basement). The room lighting meant I had to have all of the ceiling spotlights on or none of them and there was no bedside light so I couldn't relax with a book.
The bathroom mirror light and extractor fan wouldn't switch off so the light shone under the bathroom door and the fan noise went on for well over an hour, making it very hard to get to sleep and then an alarm went off at 2.45 am and stopped again.
After that a light came on outside my bedroom window as there seemed to be some sort of store room opposite - it started to feel a bit like one of those SAS programmes where they deliberately find ways to ush the contestants to their limits!
The English breakfast was so bad I left it and settled for toast! The sausages were just a sort of bready mush and the bacon was like cardboard. I had expected better as I had to take a voucher from reception the night before to hand in when I got to breakfast. I wrongly thought that meant my breakfast might be freshly cooked. I didn't even attempt to report all of the issues because I checked in so late and had to be out early to get to a meeting at 9, If you have to stay here have the continental breakfast but honestly I wouldn't recommend staying here at all! (also worth knowing it's not near any tube stations and a bit of a walk from either of the two nearest overland stations, which isn't fun with a heavy bag)
