We stayed at the Best Western Hospitality Inn in Carnarvon for 1-night in late-Mar (A$143). The inn was large, with five 1-story buildings arrayed around a small interior courtyard with a pool (the pool was nice, but the deck had no loungers and most of the tables & chairs were covered with bird poop). The place was dated, definitely with a 1970's ambience; our room had painted brick walls and a Jetson's era table & chairs. Don't get me wrong, though, the room was spacious and had most of what you would expect – a double bed with attached side tables, a single bed, a desk & drawers topped by a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and AC – but it seemed from another era.
There was no microwave or cutlery and plates – a big disappointment because we had phoned ahead about a BBQ (which they had) and expected to be able to prepare a meal. After discussing it with the manager, she provided everything we needed from the kitchen, so the only issue was cleaning the dished in the bathroom sink – very cramped and, no, there was no room to fill your kettle.
Breakfast, which came with the room, was a basic continental of toast, cereals, fruit, juices. It was set apart by the odd old conveyor machines that dispensed pancakes, toast and a variety of coffees; you knew when the breakfast period ended because the old '70 music videos (early Freddy Mercury?) on the TV suddenly ended. So, stay here if you are looking for basic comfort and a retro-1970's feel; otherwise, the Best Western provided only average value (or less) for the price – look around. less
