This was our 2nd stay at the Salutation, and the high standards we experienced during our 1st stay are still in evidence. This time we stayed in the Woodlands lodge, which is not in the main hotel, for us this was not a problem. Our room had a modern contemporary feel, and was spotlessly clean, being used to a super king sized bed, we did find the bed a little uncomfortable. Another couple of little gripes about our room, our tea tray was not replenished correctly on a daily basis so I had to leave a note, and on one day the room maid knocked to clean our room. We told her to come back later, but I was questioned on how long, and when I said about an hour, she rolled her eyes, and said " I suppose so" it felt like she was doing us a favour - I did not appreciate this.
We did eat in the restaurant most nights, the menu offers good choice, and the food was always hot and well prepared even if some of the portions were on the small side.
There were two young male waiters serving for breakfast and evening meal, and they were always welcoming, polite and friendly, so credit to them both.
My other gripe is whilst the reception staff were efficient, they did not my make me feel valued, simple things like a good morning, making eye contact when talking with you, or stopping other duties when you are at reception, or not giving me my wife's room card, as she had not yet returned her pool locker band, bearing in mind I was sitting in the bar , surely a little common sense can be applied.
So, there is no doubt we will return in tthe future, but I do think some of the staff can improve on then customer experience. less
