The Sheffield International Documentary Festival is among the UK's leading media events - both a public film festival and an industry gathering dedicated to documentary film and TV. It's based at the Showroom Cinema but events take place throughout Sheffield.
Dating from the early 1990s, the festival has become a leading networking forum for independent producers, commissioners, TV company executives, academics, students and up-and-coming film-makers. It features documentary masterclasses, workshops and, of course, a multitude of films from a multitude of countries.
As well as dozens of screenings of films never before seen in the UK, there is a series of masterclasses from leading figures in the industry to give newcomers some expert advice about the changing world of television, and the exciting and challenging times the industry can expect to face in the future.
