A veteran of the Cod Wars, the Arctic Corsair in Hull's dock is the last of the city's deep-sea fishing vessels. Former deep-sea fishermen take visitors along its narrow companionways, recounting their dangerous work in the Icelandic fishing grounds.
Built in 1960, the Arctic Corsair had a long and fruitful career until 1987, despite the decline in the local fishing industry after 1975. In the June of her last working year she successfully landed 2,957 kits of fish worth £155,341.
Please note: it is necessary to climb steep stairways and go down narrow companionways in order to move around the ship. The attraction is not recommended for wheelchair users, those with limited mobility, unaccompanied children or those under six years old. Tours take place on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
