in Science & Knowledge at in Hanworth
All year round
If you're a fan of great engineering works then the Kempton Great Engines Trust, in Hanworth, is for you; its triple expansion steam engine is the largest in the world.
It's not just engineers that will enjoy the tour. The huge engines, standing 62 feet tall and weighing over 800 tons, have a majestic, industrial beauty (think Battersea or Bankside power station). When they're put in action, on the steaming weekends held once a month, their workings are quite something to behold.
