Cardiff's Llandaff Cathedral is a prime attraction for both worshippers and visitors. Take the woodland path from Llandaff Green to the cathedral, and see its 13th-century Chapter House and Jacob Epstein's 20th-century Christ in Majesty sculpture.
The original 6th-century cathedral was built on the site of a religious community founded by St Teilo and subsequently rebuilt in stone during the 12th century. With a succession of builders adding to the church, every style of medieval architecture was represented in the building. Radical Victorian renovation was largely destroyed by wartime bombing. Subsequent restoration included the construction of an organ loft - a massive concrete arch supporting Epstein's striking sculpture, cast in aluminium.
