Jane Austen Festival

The jovial annual Jane Austen Festival features costumed promenades, talks, tours and theatrical performances throughout Bath in honour of the city's most famous resident. The festival is a must for Austen fans - and people who like dressing up.

The festival usually opens with a costumed promenade from The Jane Austen Centre to The Royal Crescent Hotel where participants in full Regency costume parade along the grand Georgian terraces of Bath accompanied by music and dancing.

Other events include dance workshops, a country fair, talks and walking tours of Jane Austen's Bath, visiting the places she frequented and a murder mystery tour. There are also theatrical performances, readings and concerts. The festival usually ends with afternoon tea and a performance by the Jane Austen Dancers.
