So what is there to do in and around Longleat Safari Park and House?
Luckily, fame has not gone to the head's of the animals after their appearance in the BBC's Animal Park series. These sometimes shy and retiring creatures live happily side by side with us humans and may even allow you to take their picture.
From 'Tiger Territory' to 'Pelican Pond' and from 'Wolf Wood' to the 'Deer Park', you'll find some usual and some quite unusual animals during your visit.
As well as the opportunity to drive around the stunning parkland area, you can also have a fantastic experience on-board the Safari Boats. Get up close and personal with the inquisitive Californian sea lions who play in the lake. Take a front row seat to watch them perform as they leap in the air during feeding times and create spectacular splashes! Don't forget to say hello to Nico, the Lowland Gorilla as you pass Gorilla Island. If you are VERY lucky you may even see the resident Hippopotamus'.
Longleat House is an exemplary example of Elizabethan architecture. Be sure not to miss the impressive library or it's equally impressive Great Hall which sadly is the only remaining Elizabethan room here. Kids will love the wide range of gifts as they look around the two shops, including a Longleat Teddy Bear.
Set in 900 spectacular acres of grounds, the gardens of which were designed by the famous landscaper Capability Brown. This glorious parkland also features the 'Lunar Labyrinth' and the 'Love Labyrinth and Orangery'.
Get lost amongst the 16,000 English Yews that come together to form the impressive Hedge Maze. Once you have taken in the beauty of the gardens and grounds, enjoy a spot of lunch or afternoon tea in one of the eateries.
Fancy travelling a little further afield?
During your short break with Best Western, you may want to spread your wings and sample the delights of Wiltshire and the surrounding countryside.
Stonehenge, the impressive prehistoric monument draws visitors from all walks of life who marvel at its construction and purpose. End your visit here with a trip to its gift shop and café.
If you are in love with the English countryside and all that goes with it and want your children to love it too, then there can be no better place to visit than Farmer Giles Farmstead.
You will find tons of things to do, from bottle feeding baby lambs and goats, to grooming donkeys or even hand milking a cow! Enjoy a gentle pony or tractor ride or just stroll around and see the other interesting animals. There is also a Pets’ Corner and an adventure playground to explore.
