The Short Story

by | Apr 09, 2015

Despite his 70 years, Tony is still heavily involved in the sport and par 3 golf has become something of an obsession for The US Open and Open Championship winner.

Tony has teamed up with Alan Pither, the owner of BEST WESTERN PLUS Magnolia Golf and Country Club in the Ashley Vale district of Buckinghamshire, to redesign and redevelop the existing 9-hole Par 3 course. As part of the club’s major redevelopment, the brand new BEST WESTERN PLUS Magnolia Golf and Country Club, will be opening its doors to both golfers and non-golfers alike.

The par 3 course at Magnolia Park will sit alongside the club’s 18-hole championship course and Tony is looking forward to getting his teeth into the design.

“We’re looking at incorporating some lakes and hopefully a couple of waterfalls. We really want to show how great Par 3 golf can be for all ages. Now golf is an Olympic sport it’s really important to get kids playing from an early age.”

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Magnolia Golf and Country Club will also be the base of the first Tony Jacklin Golf Academy and will include state-of-art golf training tools to ensure young golfers get the right start. So you will have no excuses for shouting FORE next time!
