A Trip to the Seaside

Without a doubt, there was no better feeling as a child than breaking up from school for the summer.
Six weeks off school to do whatever you want, brilliant. The countdown seemed to last forever but, it was finally here. What can I do for the next six weeks? I think I’ll play out till way past my bed time, take fun day trips with the family, eat ice cream, ice cream and more ice cream! Fantastic.

During the holidays, one of my favourite places to visit with my family was Scarborough beach. My Grandma would give me and my sister’s two pounds each and let us run riot in the arcades, eat as much candy floss as we could manage and let us loose on the rickety old fairground rides to our hearts content. Two pounds each? We thought all of our Christmases had come at once!  We absolutely loved it.

Even now, I love a trip to the seaside. You can’t beat the fresh sea air, sitting on a bench eating the best fish and chips around and the occasional quick paddle in the sea (If you dare to brave it). It’s just a shame that I’m too big to ride on the donkeys.

There’s many Best Western Hotels along the beautiful English coast from the Best Western Vine Hotel in Skegness, to the Best Western Royal Beach Hotel in Portsmouth or how about a scenic stroll at the Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel in Swansea.

Why not make a proper summer holiday of it and stay with us and relive some of the best weeks of your childhood. After all, who said you need to go abroad to enjoy the seaside?
