I feel sorry to be writing such a review during hard times but I have to be honest. I don’t understand why all the positive reviews for this place. Yes, the building is beautiful from the outside and the grounds lovely, but inside is a different matter. The only thing I can say is that it’s akin to staying in Fawlty Towers. The decor hasn’t been updated, I’m sure, since the 1970s. The carpets were badly stained, the smell: damp, the rooms and public areas: dirty, the staff: fairly uninviting, the tiny bar: poorly stocked and there’s no way I would have dined in (we booked b&b - the breakfast was reasonable but we got a taxi out to a local gastropub for dinner). The only redeeming feature was the spa / leisure centre which has recently been refurbished and has decent, clean facilities). So much potential but I would highly discourage you from staying in this hotel. We certainly won’t be returning. Glad to get home! less

Thank you for your review, I am disappointed to learn you had such a disappointing stay here with us. This is not the lasting memory we wish our guests to leave with.
If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at the hotel.
