I really don't know where to begin. From the outside looking in the venue looks lovely. A really picturesque setting. Stunning in fact. Well from a distance. The closer you get the cracks begin to show.
We checked in for a weekend stay mainly to see if this venue would be perfect for our wedding. After all, if they can look after 2 guests and make them feel welcome i'd like to hope they could extend the hospitality to 80 guests and make our wedding perfect.
The attitude on most of the staff over the weekend I felt was sombre, like they really didn't want to be there. They was no real urgency to anything. We asked for a drink to be bought to our room which never happened despite calls to reception. They was no smiles, hellos etc from any passing staff in corridors.
The corridors were littered with dirty towels and room service trays for pretty much the majority of the afternoon. It just made the whole area look very untidy and unkept. The attitude from the waiting staff in the evening at dinner wasn't any better. The evening meal in the Rochford Room (I may have got the name wrong) was average considering the prices. The food was very mediocre. It didn't blow me or my partner away. Dry meat, overcooked veg. We left feeling more hungry than what we started with.
I wouldn't risk placing my wedding the hands of these people. Disorganised comes to mind when I think of what we witnessed with a number of guests in the dining room and speaking to another couple in the bar area they believe the hotel has recently been taken over again??? Still under Best Western but managed and operated by someone else.
Standards were below poor for my liking. less
