Have just returned from a wonderful few days in Krakow. The Q Plus hotel was an excellent base. The warm welcome at reception and the pleasant helpfulness of all staff is to be commended. The room was large and very comfortable and extremely quiet. If arriving from the airport, the 252 bus terminus is almost outside the hotel door. We did not realise this until we were returning to the airport, but caught the bus from outside the hotel right to the airport - takes 35 minutes approx. and costs under £1. For those who might find the hotel just a little too far to walk from the town, there is a very good tram link right to the Old Town, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
Krakow itself was most enjoyable and very inexpensive. We did a walking tour of the Old Town, a tour of the Jewish Quarter, visited the Salt Mine (superb), took in a couple of concerts, and of course, wandered through the Christmas Market, which though small, had a good choice of gifts for sale and a very good selection of hot foods. Highlight for us was seeing the annual competition of the handmade Nativity scenes in the Main Square before being transferred to the Museum. It takes place on the first Thursday in December and as our flight home was mid afternoon, we spent the morning looking at the exhibits and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere around the Square. less
