To be completely honest, I booked because I thought it would be a very characteristic/old fashioned and traditional hotel - minus a few statues and period carpets (which were filthy), the hotel was actually very basic, tacky and not very well looked after.
Our room was OK. Standard twin. Old furniture that’s defiantly past it’s time but can’t really comment on this as that’s what I booked it for.
Young man at the reception when arriving was polite and friendly. There was a wedding happening upstairs I believe so a lot of staff were running around.
The bar is dated, overpriced and boring. If that’s your thing then great. It had a bunch of red corporate looking chairs which most were sticky. We moved 3 times because of this.
We literally was at the hotel less than 15 hours so we booked on the cheap. It’s OK if you want a place to sleep of a night.
The major issue I had was the shower. It would not cool down. There’s degree numbers on the side of the tap. First of all, who has a 38 degree shower? It was VERY HOT. I tried obviously turning it down to 20 (lowest it would go) and the knob would not turn down!! I couldn’t shower! I asked a cleaner to help me turn it down and she didn’t have a clue. Tried calling reception but the phone wasn’t working 😂
So I just gave up and didn’t shower, which obviously wasn’t ideal. Couldn’t even get it to cold to shower!
Side note: the beds are extremely comfy! Surprisingly!
Probably won’t return though, more hotels nearby that I’m sure are better. less
