The location, anyone will notice after a day in Capri, could not be better. Via Camerelle is nicer, wider and less crowded than the other main streets of the place. Two short blocks from the Piazzetta and on the way to the Faraglioni. It is also where the best restaurants, if expensive in this case, are located. On our search for a hotel of moderate - really - price we did not expect one so comfortable in this expensive island.
The spacious, clear room we got overlooked the hotel´s peaceful lemon grove, where the restaurant Limonaia, of the hotel, serves nice-good priced Italian fare. Beyond the grove is the smimming pool and on a higher ground a separated large terrace/sun deck. In the very center of Capri, the Syrene owns a surprising large area.
The view towards the sea, on the front rooms, which we saw from the front terrace where breakfast is served, looked to us less appealing than the garden one, that shows the grove and the city of Capri behind climbing the hills.
Staff very corteous, efficient and helpful even in matters like confirmations in Sorrento for a rental car and also for hiring the round the island boat tour. For the same price that all tours are offered in the net, we got an agile speeboat, with a nice sun deck.
Breakfast was just OK, of all things, the one I would rate less remarkable.
Having two large pieces of luggage, we used the service available in Capri, for a cost, to carry the items from the Marina Grande and deliver them to the hotel. This service is independent of the hotel and works both ways, to and fro. Recommend in this situation, it is a tremendous hassle to carry large items in the "funiculare" that links the port to the town. less
