Hotel review – Hotel Kung Carl
I had more difficulty than usual in booking our Stockholm hotel, and we found out why on the plane ride into Stockholm from Brussels. Turns out that 11,000 neuroscientists were gathering in the city. I was unable to get us into the two recommended hotels, but eventually found Hotel Kung Carl on a “Best in Stockholm” list, and I took a chance. It turns out that this gem is perfectly situated in the center of action, and is a delightful 143 room establishment with professional and friendly staff. It is in the center of town, convenient to most everything, including restaurants & transit. We chose the “with breakfast” room, and the room and the breakfast were excellent. I had been advised to upgrade from the ‘standard’ room because it was small, and our larger room was perfect for our needs, with views on 2 sides of the hotel, and a balcony. The bed was a featherbed, and we slept the sleep of the dead in it. The bathroom was small, but the shower water pressure was excellent. The breakfast room and the breakfast, was delightful, with one quibbling objection – there was very little fruit, but lots of cold cuts, yogurts, make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, poached eggs, and every bread that you could imagine, along with some unusual, but delicious, fruit juices. Once again, the breakfast staff, just as the bar staff, were friendly and professional. We had a delightful stay at this charming boutique hotel, and we recommend it to you!
