In the heart of Carlisle’s ‘historic quarter’ is the majestic Carlisle Cathedral – marvelled for its intricate wood carvings, medieval painted panels and 16th-century Flemish altarpiece, the Brougham Triptych. You can visit the cathedral anytime and go on a free guided tour from Monday to Saturday.
