I stayed here lastnight with my partner. I have to say that the staff and facilities couldn’t be faulted. I was especially pleased that my double bed was not 2 single beds pushed together as if often the case. Unfortunately I didn’t sleep a wink. Tere was also a large wedding happening where the music did not turn off until around 11:30pm. At this time a lot of the guests must have come to bed as there was a lot of door shutting, water running, chatting, laughing etc. Basically either the guests were disrespectful or the walls are paper thin. This continued until 1:30am where I phoned reception to ask if they had any earplugs. We visited the lakes to have a long weekend of walking so I was not best pleased at this point, anytime before midnight I didn’t mind so much but this was taking the mick. The hotelier informed me there was no ear plugs, so I asked if he could do a patrol. Sadly, the noise continued. I think I got to sleep just after 3:30am. Just disappointing. I mentioned this to reception upon checking out but they didn’t seem very apologetic or offer any form of compensation. We paid £250 for this 1 night plus breakfast AND expensive drinks in the bar.
Overall, I can’t give this hotel a 1 star as the staff were nice, facilities were good, steam room was a lovely temp which is rare, and view is great. Sadly, I can’t give more than 2 star as for £250 I would have expected to sleep. less
