I visited with my mum for her birthday. We stayed in a twin room which was very spacious. The decor is traditional in style but this suits the building. However, it was a room with no view from either of the windows - just two brick walls!
We used the spa facilities - nice loungers round the pool, jacuzzi, etc.
The downside to our stay was the food. We had a three course meal included in the price and this was eaten in the Country Kitchen restaurant. The first course was either soup or a salad buffet, which was ok. The main course was a carvery, or a choice of Cajun chicken or cod. I chose the cod which was a bit over cooked as it had been kept hot under heat lamps. However the vegetables were lukewarm and tasteless, a great disappointment. The dessert of key lime pie had a soggy base and bland filling.
All in all, I only ate a small amount of salad, a piece of fish and a few spoonfuls of dessert. Not exactly the three course meal you would expect at a 4 star hotel!
Very disappointing bearing in mind the cost of the stay. It definitely was not value for money and I feel that the price we paid was far too high for the poor quality of the food. less
