Arrived at 2.00 pm on Wednesday afternoon in June, after booking online on the previous weekend on the Best Western Wanderlight Hotel Website. I attended the office to check in to be told that they didn't have my booking, so I supplied a printed confirmation and booking number. The girl checked the computer behind the scenes and said that it had only half gone though. She had my name and address and credit card details. Despite not having all the details and me paying with the Seniors discount, I was given a large deluxe room on the first floor about middle of the building, which was quiet, though amongst the miners living at the hotel. It was mid week, so they were working early next day, so they just ate dinner and went to sleep. I note from complaints about noisy customers, there is a note on the front door requesting people keep the noise down. The room was large, with a queen size bed and a large empty space where another bed could have been located. Useless space for just 1 or 2 people. The shower was instantaneously hot, the towels were soft and the squeeze bottles of soap were plentiful. A nice air conditioner warmed the room and was silent running. The small TV was adequate and had fairly good reception. The room was clean and comfortable and scored good marks as everything worked. I did not use the Wifi, but on my previous stay, I noted the signal was patchy. My only disappointment was the room service breakfast. I had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and tomatoes, which was a very small meal. The toast was buttered which was nice, but had become soggy, it seemed that it was cooked and buttered early in the service and placed in paper bags for use later and it was just part of the production line, to have some jobs done before any man food was prepared. I didn't like that the teabag was served in an empty pot, where I had to fill my room kettle, boil it and then brew the tea, before I could drink it. I also had to use the room sugar and room spoon. $3.00 for a tea bag in an empty teapot is too much. I want my breakfast fresh and ready to eat when it comes to my room. Other motels can do it. The hotel is located not far from cafes in the town that serve breakfast, so next time I will eat out. So a great room, just the food didn't measure up to my expectations. less
