It's been a while since I last submitted a review. The reason is that of late we haven't visited anywhere partcularly praiseworthy - until now.
We have just spent a really delightful weekend at the Valley Hotel.
We stayed on the Friday and Saturday nights and dined in their Chez Maw restaurant on both nights. The Saturday was my wife's birthday and I had asked them, at rather short notice, if they could produce a peronal bithday cake. They not only managed to bake, ice and signwrite the cake, after our meal all the waiting staff appeared en masse with a candle lit cake singing happy birthday. In fact all the Staff we came into contact with, made a point of wishing my wife a happy birthday, which was really nice and I think shows the measure of the calibre of the people who work there.
The food in their restaurant is exceptional. It is open and well used by non-residents and we would certainly dine there regularly if we lived in the area. All the waiting staff were very polite and attentive while being friendly. They adopt the style of sitting you in the bar or lounge with a few nibbles while they take you order and ready your table, which we like. Although it's a little thing, I also liked the way that you get a fork and spoon to eat your pudding as opposed the the fashion these days of just providing a spoon while they watch you chase your last bit of pud around a bit of slate.
The Hotel was in the process of being "decked out" for Christmas and everthing they had done so far looked great.
All in all, we had a fabulous weekend, made all the better by Management and Staff at the Vally Hotel. There is no doubt that we will be returning and we will be recommending the Hotel and Restaurant. less
