A very good value option if you are visiting Exmoor and Dartmoor and the lovely countryside around Devon and Somerset. The hotel itself is frozen in the 1970's, with the usual family run/Best Western badged good old fashioned family owned approach to service. Receptionists are excellent, restaurant and bar staff well trained and attentive, and room staff efficient. It was good to be able to order our newspaper using our The Times voucher - not a service offered by many hotels we find. One thing we did notice was the absence of European staff, all those we came across being local, which is unusual these days.
Rooms are dated, but comfortable and spacious, although we found the bathroom cramped in proportion to the space of our superior room: the desk chair in the room was rather shabby, with torn fabric.
Evening dinners were rather better quality than the breakfasts, which were decidedly average, with poor quality sausages, eggs, thin toast and tinned fruit. Overall though the two night break package was good value. less

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your recent stay.
I'm delighted that overall you enjoyed your stay and if I may comment on just a few of the points you raise, firstly my apologies for the torn fabric on one of the chairs, that will be replaced and we are in the process of upgrading our breakfast offering as many Best Western hotels are and we should be launching our new product in the summer. I did want to reassure you that all suppliers wherever possible are sourced locally and on a combination of quality and price.
Thanks too for your kind comments on the quality of our great team, much appreciated.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future.
