I was booked in to the Hotel for business purposes and had no preconceived ideas or expectations, except I thought it would be quite basic, given my budget.
When I arrived, my first thought was The Crossroads Motel (for those old enough to remember it). However, once inside, such thoughts were banished. It is clean and modern throughout. I don't know if my room was standard, but it had a queen size bed, a dressing table, large office desk with and lots of space.
I ate in the restaurant and was a little disappointed with the variety of meals on offer, but that was the only fault I could find. I had a basic steak meal and it was perfect. The wine list was good and the prices very reasonable; I was also reliably informed that the venison was exceptional.
In the bar, they had the usual beers with the addition of a very well kept local ale (Exmoor) which was very good. Breakfast matched the high expectations that I had following the evening meal. All of this was supplemented by very friendly staff.
In summary I would certainly recommend this hotel - great food, very good room and exceptional beer. Great value for money. less
