We wanted somewhere comfortable to stay with an onsite restaurant and bar that would also allow us to take our dog with us. This was the closest place to where we needed to be that fulfilled all this criteria. We weren't really sure what to expect as had not seen the hotel before and when we drove up we were maybe slightly concerned as it seemed quite dated from the outside (certainly not run-down, just old style). However from the minute we checked in we couldn't have been happier. Only certain rooms were available to us as we had the dog with us - we knew that before we arrived so that was fine. The check-in staff advised (unprompted) that we were able to use a back door near our room to take the dog out if we needed to - brilliant, we were able to take her out (on lead) in a large mostly unused rear car park every morning and evening without disturbing anyone else. Our 6 night stay was really enjoyable, all the staff were very friendly and seemed genuinely welcoming of us and our dog. Our room was large, a triple room for the two of us with a good tv and a small table and two comfy chairs. Plenty of room for clothes and cases too. Everything worked and all you needed was there including hairdryer and iron and ironing board. The restaurant / bar food was fabulous (specific tables in bar area for people with dogs - not allowed in restaurant, so that was fine and good for anyone staying at hotel that was less dog keen). We ate in 3 nights and had breakfast once. All very tasty. Not cheap but definitely worth it. less
Rhys Roberts, Owner at Best Western Tiverton Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Wickfordmum,
Firstly my apologies for not responding sooner, this is not because we believe your review is unimportant, quite the reverse actually, I place a huge amount of importance on guests feedback and answer each review personally, my slow response was due to the fact I didn't get a prompt on my mobile this time for some reason.
Now to respond to your comments, your initial concern is entirely understandable, no one could accuse the hotel of having a pretty building, it is what it is, functional but clean and welcoming and I'm delighted you found that from the beginning of your stay.
I'm particularly pleased because we have a number of our team on furlough and are operating on a skeleton staff at the moment.
Thanks too for your kind comments on our services and quality of food, that's important to us to and your comments as a dog owner are very welcome and hopefully will encourage more dog owners to come and stay in this beautiful part of Devon.
I look forward to welcoming you all back in the future.
Kind regards
Rhys Roberts
