I visited Tiverton Hotel on 22nd May 2017 with my husband. Upon checking in at the Reception, we were asked to input our car registration into a screen on the desk which we did accordingly. On 24th June 2017, I was then surprised to receive a parking ticket for £60 if paid for within 14 days or £100 thereafter. After contacting the Manager of the hotel, he offered his sympathy, but could only suggest that the ticket was appealed (this is his hotel for goodness sake)! He went on to say that he would support the Appeal and offered a free overnight stay, by way of compensation.The ticket was duly Appealed and declined. The matter has been appealed further to POPLA, but I received a call today from Rhys Roberts the Manager, stating that this too has been declined. This is disgraceful and in my opinion, nothing but a scam!

Thank you for your review I'm grateful for the opportunity to respond to the issue you raise for the benefit of all our guests but on this occasion, I hope you understand if I don't engage directly but rather provide information on what we are doing and why.
Despite numerous efforts over the past 18 months to deal with the increasingly difficult problem of unauthorised parking on site on a voluntary basis we decided to follow other hotels with the same problem and commission a computerised parking system for our car park.
Creative Car Parking were engaged to supply and run a number recognition system, the system photographs every car that comes in and out of the hotel car park. The company are very experienced in this area and are registered and regulated by the authority that is responsible for this activity in the country.
In adopting this approach it allowed us to keep the car park free for our genuine guests and to protect the capacity for our customers and staff. Prior to going live we installed in excess of 40 external and internal signs, well above the recommended number as well as messages on our invoices, menus and booking forms.
To register your vehicle, the process is simple and swift, we have three registration points around the hotel, you input your vehicle number, please take time to input the correct number, and an electronic permit is issued. If you are unsure on this, just ask one of our team who will be only too pleased to help.
Finally, if you are one of our regular guests, simply email me your car registration number and I can include you on a permanent exemption list which means you won't have to go through the process each time you come to the hotel.
