I left a message when I booked a hotel and called twice to verify that there would not be be any feather bedding , carpet fresheners karma or air fresheners in my room because of a respiratory ailment I have been suffering from.
I get to the hotel tell and find out all the carpet in the entire Hotel tell is slathered with carpet freshener as well as in my room. It was so bad add my skin begin to itch, my eyes watered, my throat began to swell shut in my lips shriveled up, jumped off my face, and ran through a crack under the maintenance room door.
On my bed were two overstuffed feather pillows. I picked up the phone to call the front desk to have them removed. The phone was broken and did not work. I get it up the pillows and took them to the lobby myself. The front desk man give me a disappointed look and reply that I did not need to bring the pillows down to the lobby. I guess this is a taboo in this part of Italy. After being berated by the front desk man, I explained to him the situation and and one full day later some new karma 1 inch thick cheap foam pillows showed up at my door. I would have been better off if I just continue to sleep and the pair of rolled up T-shirts I slept on the night before.
Unfortunately I can't see they're really slept on the bed that seem to have been made out of pristine marble. My shoulder ached, my hip ached and just about everything else.
I tried to leave the hotel L4 a different one but was told that my reservation was already paid for in it's entirety it would not be refunded . I was stuck there for 4 days without sleeping a wink.
I thought I would never have to to experience the poor food quality like I did in England and until I get here here. I thought it said you had a cook but, I guess I was wrong. Lots of dry stale breads, some burnt fresh every morning croissant that were mistakenly labelled as brioche and called Oscar Mayer type hot dogs. Yeah, you heard me. Even worse yet where the reconstituted powdered eggs that had been burnt thoroughly I'll being baked in the pan. These eggs were so saturated with water they felt like chewing on a kitchen sponge that had just been used to wash an entire sink full of dishes
I was scheduled to come back on my return trip for 3 more days period fortunately I was able to cancel this and book a hotel at the Marriott a block away. Do yourself a favour, spend and a few extra bucks and book the Marriott in the first place. less

To be honest we are very surprised to read your comments as myself and all my collegaues at the Front Desk do remember you as being a very friendly and smiley person who had a lots of questions but never complained regading anything. In one word, what we call the perfect guest!
Firstly, we had no idea of your "respiratory aliment" therefore, for us everything was in working order. Why did you not tell us? We have some larger rooms with tiles: that could have been a first solution which would not have you made feel so uncomfortable.
Second issue: the pillows. The hotel does not have any feather pillows. I know this because i personally bought them and we chose not to have feather pillows because there are so many people having allergies that we would never want to cause what you have described.
I shall apologise if the front desk associate (Alberto) who attended you "gave you a disappointed look", he only did not want you to get disturbed by taking the pillows down since it was early morning. As I arrived that morning he immediately told me the issue regarding the pillows and as soon as the head of cleaning arrived I made to deliver two more foam pillows to your room.
I remember that your phone was not working properly, you are right and the moment you told me that, I sent the maintenance to your room who fixed the phone right away so that you were able to call us at the front desk (I recall you making quite a few calls at the desk as I answered to those).
As for your booking, none of us (all the front desk associates) recall that you wanted to change hotel or reduce your booking. Normally when a guest feels uncomfortable we try to do our best to accommodate his/her needs. You are right, your booking was prepaid but we honestly thought you were happy with us as you had always been very polite, smiley and friendly.
Breakfast: we make scrambled eggs with real eggs and we do not use water, also because had we used water, we would not be able to make scrambled eggs. Croissants and brioches are the same: in Italian we use the word "brioches" to identify what in English is called croissants or pastries. I shall apologise for the "stale" bread" which we normally have it fresh every day and I will investigate what happened during those days.
All in all, we are very sorry that you felt this way, but we are even more sorry that you waited to walk out of the hotel to inform us regarding your feelings. Had we known all this, we could have probably done more to make you feel more comfortable and welcome.
