At check-in, we were a few minutes early and denied check-in. We didn't realize 5 minutes was that big of a deal, but weren't going to let it ruin our first time in Tofino. After waiting 5 minutes after check-in time (a total of 10 minutes), we tried to check in again and they asked us to wait. Overall, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get our room keys. We didn't mind waiting if they were honest or provided information, but we do mind zero customer service for the price we paid. Another time we went to the lobby to see if they had cookies (they do sometimes) - while they didn't at that time, which we didn't mind - not a single employee said hello to us while we were in the lobby. The same when we went through the lobby to the restaurant - nothing. The fire place does not work. The windows would not open. There was no light outside on our balcony/deck so we had to use our phones when we were sitting outside relaxing. Someone set off fire works in the middle of the night either directly in the parking lot or immediately beside it.
Our room opened up a few metres away from the beach. Rooms are large. Beds were comfortable. Overall, we were fairly happy with the stay. less

Your efforts to take time to let us know about your recent experience at Tin Wis are appreciated. It is noted that you enjoyed the room beach views, beds and location. However it is disappointing to learn of your wait for check in and lack of acknowledgment. Our rooms are generally ready for 4 pm and we do pride ourselves on being a welcoming team. As you mentioned the fireplaces are not in service and are under consideration for renovation.
