I stayed here for one night recently on business and felt that the Hotel wasn't as good as it could be. I stay in many Best Western Hotels and this has been the poorest so far.
The welcome at reception was very pleasant and the room, a triple, was very generous and comfortable, the setting was idyllic and a good location for London and surrounding area.
The Tea and Coffee was adequate with biscuits, all other Best Western hotels so far have also provided lovely drinking chocolate sachets, there were none here. The bathroom was a little tired and grotty, but clean. One of my pet hates are soap dispensers attached rot the wall, this sadly was the case on both the sink and shower, and I'm not convinced that that the horrible pink gooey body wash over the shower was actually shampoo leaving my hair feeling greasy. The smaller sets of soap, shampoo and bubble baths seem much more personal. The hair dryer was also one of those horrible plastic boxes with a short hose and inflexible hair dryers with one setting, very disappointing, as it was bolted to the wall adjacent to the sink.
I was in room 245, it was very hot so I turned the radiator off and left the window open to let it cool down. Later on I closed the window and went to bed only to be woken by a horrendous knocking noise getting louder, which came from the radiator. The only way to rectify this was to turn the radiator back on, so then being too hot opened the window, but being a water mill the noise was constant, so not a very good nights sleep.
The most disappointing thing was the breakfast, having given my room number it was clear to see that it was a buffet style set up, however there was insufficient food put out for the number of guests, so every time fresh food appeared it was a free for all and it was gone. It took me 3 attempts to actually get a sufficient cooked breakfast but even then there was no bacon or eggs left. The staff tried there best, culminating in a waiter walking around the restaurant with a plate of bacon as people were eating. At £10.50 it was a shambles. Even worse having left the restaurant I was chased after by a waitress telling me I hadn't paid, having seen my room card I would have expected that to be added to the bill upon leaving, not being accused of attempting to avoid paying, quite embarrassing for myself and the waitress.
Like I said, it could be much better if some of these faults were addressed, but I'm sad to say I will not be returning to this hotel, there are better ones available. less
