The Birch is a modernised and essentially a business hotel, yet the interior retains character features and has lovely paintings of Italian cities throughout the public rooms. There are spacious lounge and dining areas, and an ultra-modern bar. Shame the bar did not stock real ales, only piped fizz.
But that's my only negative: we had a super room up in the Gods (room 304 in the turret! Huge room with magnificent views over the Sussex wold) and a freshly cooked breakfast. The hotel is slightly out of town and it is over a mile walk into town right to the opposite end where all the restaurants seem to be. But, it walked-off some calories! Friendly staff made our visit a real joy. less
