This hotel probably just scrapes the requirements of a 4 star hotel. It's clean, the rooms are spaceous and the breakfast bar is well stocked in the morning (continental breakfast only though). However there is no actual restaurant in the hotel itself - it sends small groups across to its sister hotel, The American Hotel next door, although larger groups are catered for via the American Hotel's kitchen. Our junior suite had a nice bedroom and spaceous living area, with a small kitchenette (hob, fridge) and limited utensils. In addition, the mini bar is probably the cheapest I've ever come across.
The only issue we had was with the hotel's location. We knew that it was on the outskirts of town, but we were shocked by the state of the street the hotel is in which has no amenities whatsoever. We were equally dismayed to learn that the local bus service is virtually non-existent during the month of August, forcing us to rent a car.
During our stay we've witnessed a lot of coach tours stay here, and that is what the hotel is really set up to cater for - the visitors staying for one night. It isn't really suitable for longer stays (we've been here for two weeks), where you might want to lounge around the hotel or its surroundings. less
