REASON FOR STOP: A bed for the night on the way further South.
Facility is in good condition (due, apparently, to a recent renovation that may not be complete in some rooms).
The bed was VERY comfortable – first rate.
The hotel was full for my stay, but at a peak morning time there was still plenty of hot water.
The exercise room is very well equipped. I used the stationary bike and it was fine.
Given the rainy weather, I was thankful for the indoor pool, which although not the latest chlorine-free technology was clean and well ventilated.
There are plenty of eating choices within a very short distance of the hotel.
Check-in was efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was good enough (one can’t expect too much of a “free” breakfast).
CONS: Although the A/C unit worked well enough, and was not overly loud, the temperature control was difficult. It is a knob that theoretically allows a full range of temperature choices. In reality I found there were only two temperatures: one was cooler than I wanted, the other was warmer.
I was unable to log onto the Wifi. Wasn’t important enough for me to call the support line.
Although right off an Interstate exit, not easy to find. Motor inn is at the back of a veritable warren of little streets of other inns, restaurants, and retail.
The majority of the other clients were workmen / contractors. No problem for me, I am in no way “better” – those with whom I superficially interacted were polite and friendly, and the hotel was quiet during the evening and night. However, when I checked into my room, I found a sheet of paper on my bed. Expecting it to be the usual eco-stuff about laundering, I was surprised to find instead that it was a number of “rules”, draconian in language, about no noise after 9 pm, guests are to be only in their own rooms, no parties, no congregating in halls or public areas – all on threat of expulsion. I have to wonder if this is a pre-emptive strike, or a result of past problems. less
