Just a few star killers.
My wife and I checked in easily this week. The lady at the desk did a stella job. We selected a room with a separate bedroom, giving us two kings. The room was immaculate and roomy, fridge, two telly's and a nice bathroom, coffee pot (not Keurig…. tut tut). Nice pool, very shallow though, great for very height challenged children. Hot tub was very good, everything clean and bereft of mould. The hotel was nice and quiet. We had a great sleep,... eventually, the pillows being as they often nowadays, huge, bulky and hard, necessitating sleeping with ones head at a 45 degree angle from the body and suffering from a cricked neck, my wife brings her own pillow, smart lady. After suffering it out for an hour I phoned down, and the splendid lady at the desk brought me up a flatter model...... and, due to ensuing travel plans/ planned to sleep in somewhat.
Thus, we arrived at the included buffet breakfast around 9 am. Twas deserted. I poured a coffee from the machine, took a sip...... And bingo! the stars began to fall.
Never in my life have I tasted such weak and insipid pish in all my life. UNDRINKABLE!
Looking at the tater tots, sausage, and scrampled eggs, I had misgivings without tasting. As we tried all said items, my wife and I had the same reaction, we spat them back onto the plate. INEDIBLE!....HORRIBLE... VILE... It became immediatly obvious they had been sitting there since 5 or 6 am.
Eventualy I settled on a bowl of crunchies (rasin bran).
The last few times we did this trip we stayed at Drayton Valley....... Ramada and Service Inn and Suits.........................Included, breakfast's to die for.
Well, crestfallen! I moved on, craving a decent coffee I fired up the dinky little pot ( not Keurig) in our room. I poured in less than half a cup of water, (I like good strong coffee) added the LITTLE pouch and awaited my fix. Imagine my abject horror as I observed a slightly discolored liquid being disgorged into the cup. I tasted it to confirm my worst nightmare.......................Warm water with a distant hint of coffee, ie worst pish!
Check out was easy.
Soon we were on the road to Calgary, with the first stop at Sylvan Lake Tim Hortons.... for, would you believe a decent coffee. less
