This was our worst hotel experience ever: 1) already had a reservation for 5/19, called to make a reservation for 5/21 as well, but 5 different times I gave the desk clerk my Amex #, each time she said it was "invalid card" (have had same card and # since 1985), and each time when I asked her to tell me the # she had entered she gave me a different wrong #. I gave up on that and made my 5/21 reservation online.2) Once we checked in and went to our room we discovered old French fries on the carpet in the sitting room, then found an empty bag of Cheetos beside the bed in the bedroom. 3)The toilet is not anchored at all, you literally can move it all around or tilt it sideways. My wife, who had rotator cuff surgery 6 weeks ago, almost tumbled over into the tub as a result, and if she had she would have fallen onto the arm that is just now healing. 4) The sink drains very, very, very slowly. 5) The back door of the hotel was not secured/locked at 9 p.m. when we came back from dinner; there is no key entry on the exterior at all. 5) There is no bedside lighting, instead very bright overheads, one of them with large gaps around it where it was poorly installed. 6) When we were checking out the desk clerk fumbled with the computer for several minutes before going to the back to ask a question of the manager. After that I asked her to please cancel our reservation for 5/21, but after looking at my reservation she again went seeking help and told me she could not cancel it because I had made it online. I told her that was unacceptable so she got the manager, who then told me the same thing. When I shared with her that I had only made it online because no one at the hotel had been able to reserve it for me over the phone, she said, "That's a complaint, but we cannot cancel from here." I then shared with her every bad experience we had had since checking in, to which she replied, "That does not change the fact that I cannot cancel your online reservation." No apology, no regret over our miserable experience at her property. I told her I would find a way to get to a computer to cancel my reservation before the deadline. But when I called Best Western's toll-free number to cancel, I was told that my reservation had already been cancelled, indicating that the manager both could and did cancel it. This is a poorly built, poorly run property that makes me question ever booking a room at a Best Western again. less
