My Mum, Dad, sister and I Stayed at The Restormel Lodge Hotel a couple of weeks ago for 2 nights while in the area to visit The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan (which are definitely worth a visit). Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the rooms were clean and a reasonable size (if a little too hot), the staff friendly and helpful (they will sort out discounted tickets for The Eden Project and Lost Gardens for you so you don’t have to queue when you get there) and the food in the restaurant tasty (although disappointing that their Cornish cheese selection consisted of cheddar and brie as they’d run out of the actual Cornish cheeses!).
There are two ways in which this hotel could be improved. The first is that while the rooms are nicely decorated, the corridors outside the bedrooms look a bit tired and don’t give the best first impression when you walk in from the car park. The second is that some of the younger staff, while friendly and helpful, lacked initiative and could probably do with more training and direction For example, at breakfast on our first morning most of the hot and cold buffet selection had run out but despite it being quite early in the breakfast sitting the staff didn’t replenish it, so in the end we had to ask them to do this.
This wouldn’t prevent us from returning if we’re ever back in the area; however, it would have made our recent stay that bit more enjoyable and enabled us to give it a 4 star rating so management please take note! less
