The hotel is sort of OK for what you pay. the staff are always pushing you to take taxis everywhere. OK they are cheap but I prefer to walk, They kept telling me to go early to the airport because it was dec 31/18 and the streets were crowded and party-like with rowdy people. Nothing of the sort. From the 300,000 they quoted me for a transfer to the airport, I was only charged 30,000 by the nice driver who said that was the minimum payment and it was enough for him as my destination was less than 2 Km away.
To get to the beach you need a taxi (another 30,000), or to be brave enough to walk through a large demolition area where youngsters idle with their mopeds. Not something to do at night perhaps, but OK when you come back to hotel during daytime - once you know what's the deal (which the staff don't tell you). Food at the hotel resto is very poor quality. Even being hungry, I had to return my last 'fish and chips' as whatever appeared to be the fish under the batter smelled really bad, and was dark brown. A local fish is brown I was told ...Ha! less
