Two couples booked rooms through booking.com, found that we could book direct through hotel for less so cancelled existing booking and rebooked through best western website.
Arrived after transfer booked through RIBA taxis to check in and we go first check in no bother receive keycard for room 310, our friends go to reception only to be told, you cancelled room, friends explained they booked and cancelled booking.com reservation then rebooked direct and had confirmation email, girl on reception called a manager to deal with it, obviously our friends and us were getting concerned that we could be separated but eventually the manager resolved the problem and booked them into a suite for the price of the room they had booked.
On getting to our room we found it to be functional and clean, we had to chase up bath towels but they arrived whilst we had a quick look around the area.
The room windows are unusual in that they don’t open.
The beds are not the most comfortable and are a bit hard with 2 single quilts on them.
A fridge in the room has the mini bar with wines, soft drinks and spirits in, there are also a couple of bottles of sparkling water for you to use which are not charged for.
The hotel is well situated a couple of minutes away from the square and over the road from the river.
The breakfast room is pleasant with the usual foreign version of an English breakfast, hot dog sausages , fatty bacon with a choice of eggs cooked fresh for you, the usual cold meats, and some nice fresh fruit and cakes, the staff in the breakfast room are generally ok apart from the older gentleman with the moustache who wasn’t happy in his job.
The bar in the hotel is very poor wether it is because you are so close to the square hardly anybody uses it, as a result the staff serving in the bar are often doing other things so service can be a bit slow. The tall lady whose name we didn’t catch was the most pleasant and actually gave the impression of caring.
On our final day we ate lunch before being collected to go back to the airport, whilst eating our food on more than one occasion the manager walked past us and looked at us as though we were stealing the cutlery.
Our overall impression was disappointment as we had talked our friends into joining us by singing the praises of the Polish people and their excellent customer service skills based on our experience in Krakow when we went for my wife’s 60th birthday celebrations.
We will certainly not return to this hotel due to the behaviour from a member of the hotels management team.
The hotel was very good value at 1220 Zloty for 4 nights but cost isn’t everything. less
