This hotel is in a very good location and the breakfast is excellent. The hotel’s design is a little weird because, in order to ensure that most (all?) rooms have at least a partial sea view, very few of them have a full sea view (and the partial view for a lot of the rooms seems very slight). The rooms are a good size though, even if the decor seems a little dated. The maid service is poor, however. We were there for seven nights and every morning at 9 or 9:30 a.m. we left and put the “please clean room” plaque on the door. Every day we returned at 3 p.m. or later and not once had the room been cleaned. Once, when we returned at 3 p.m., we went out again and specifically asked at the Front Desk that the room be cleaned. When we returned again at 5 p.m. the room still hadn’t been cleaned. Why bother with those little signs for the door if the housekeeping staff doesn’t pay any attention to them? Super annoying. When you come home from a long day at the beach, the last thing you want is to get to your room and find that it hasn’t been cleaned and you will need to leave the room at some point when (if) the maid finally shows up. Shockingly poor. The internet worked okay (speed varied quite a bit) but I had to constantly reconnect my laptop for some reason. Warning to English-speaking guests: Maceio doesn’t get many American tourists and none of the Front Desk clerks we encountered could speak English. So you better know a little Portuguese. Don’t bother learning how to ask them to clean the room in Portuguese though — they won’t pay any attention to what you say no matter the language. less
