This Best Western is a decent homebase for an airport overnight. We got in to BKK mid-afternoon from Phuket and had an early morning flight the next day. It was easy to find their representative at the airport and we waited no time for the van. The drive to the property took about 12 minutes - thankfully we asked and do make sure you book your return transportation upon check-in. Since the van is complimentary, it often fills us in the morning.
The property itself is nice, although the surrounding neighborhood looked a bit suspect. Due to lots of standing water and the nature of the neighborhood, there are mosquitoes around and in the hotel. While we did not get many bites, they are there. Due to this, we did not use the pool at all.
We were given vouchers for a welcome drink (non-alcoholic) and hit the buy-one, get-one happy hour from 5 - 7 pm. Until we settled into our room for the evening we were more than pleased for the value. The downfall of the stay was when we ordered room service for dinner. I ordered a curry, but got some other coconut soup which was tasteless with chicken I could not even tolerate. My wife had the chicken gravy noodle and thought the noodles tasted off. Neither of us could finish our meal. When I brought this up to the front desk, little care was shown. I was simply asked not to leave the negative feedback online! Upon contacting Best Western corporate about this upon my return home, there has been some action and apology from the property. This was by far the worst meal of our 10 days in Thailand and leaves me really wanting to give this place 1 or 2 stars. However, the fact is that from a facility perspective, it was decent and appears to be one of the best options near BKK. If a quick overnight is what you need, I would stay here again for the value - I would just ensure to have another dining option lined up!
There is a fun local night food market down the street to the right as you exit the property, as well as a 7-Eleven. less
