Hotel meets motel by busy main road: beware if you're headed east in the morning

I quite like BW as a rule, not for any reason than every one has its own character. What they have in common is a decidedly lower-mid market attitude. I've used this hotel a few times in recent weeks, only because it's slap bang between two clients.
The main hotel is okay, with decent rooms; the outbuildings are more motel-like, with doors opening straight to the outside world; they are also closer to the main road, in the case of a couple of blocks, literally backing onto it. That said, the noise wasn't as bad as I'd expected, and I live at home in the hills, so am used to silence. Walking up an icy steel staircase, and along a steel landing that pounds like a dampened drum, isn't the most edifying approach to a room, but the room itself was more or less the same as in the main hotel. Walls are a bit thin, but nothing exceptional - just don't be plotting any murders loudly on your phone or shouting out PIN numbers.
Beds and pillows comfortable enough; hot water hot; and the one jewel in the crown is the leisure centre - very good, spacious with lots of equipment, and probably the best kitted-out I've seen in a hotel; but I suspect (as is the norm nowadays) open to the public: that said, I used it three times after 8pm and was more or less on my own.
One quirk: every room I 've stayed in had curtains that couldn't be drawn to overlap: I had to resort to propping a chair back against them to avoid a gap. In this week's room that can be drawn together, but only if I leave a gap at the outside edge of the window.
One annoyance - no lift up to the first floor. Oh, and that access to the A45: it's a five minute loop around if you're heading back east, and that so long as you don't fly past the first exit option to do an (not short) overpass to the eastbound access. Having a car with a bit of oomph will also make for a less buttock-clenching entrance to the road - particularly at busy times. less
