Decent but could do better...
We stayed at the Craiglands Hotel 16 - 18th of September.
Covid practices were good, reception at the time we arrived was unmanned - had to push a buzzer to get a receptionist (who was professional and friendly).
Regarding breakfast - we had to book a timeslot (covid!) to have our breakfast, but the option to take breakfast in our room wasn't offered - we had to ask if this was possible (which it was).
We ordered breakfast for the room, and whilst it turned up on the dot, it was lacking some items we'd ordered and was a bit on the cold side.
Food - decent quality, and reasonable price. We went down for a bar meal on the 2nd night and were told (after we'd ordered drinks!), that chef was busy and they would not be able to serve our order for 40 minutes - at which point, we went into town to eat.
The room we stayed in was comfortable, if a little small and I suspect that judging by the heavy "clomp, clomp, clomp" sound coming from the upstairs room, that the hotel was possibly hosting an upcoming awards ceremony for "the most heavy footed horse in Lancashire"....
BUT - the gym is really good! Although lacking the heavier weights that most standard gyms have, it has up to 30KG dumbells and good cable weights and a smiths machine and three treadmills (I didn't notice whether there were ellipticals or cycles unfortunately!).
All in all, relaxed atmosphere, good gym, decent evening meal but could do with a few tweaks to turn this from a reasonable experience, into a really good one. less
