This hotel is very close to the French Quarter, but far enough away not to be noisy from partiers or the street car. I would say it was OK -- some nice things, others not so great. For one, I paid for my two nights several months in advance. While I was checking in, I heard one of the front desk personnel talking to a caller who was quoted a price for the same nights I was staying for considerably less than I was paying. Rather annoying, but buyer beware.
Close to French Quarters but not noisy.
Nicely appointed rooms, with original brick walls of the building which was kinda cool.
Lots of stuff within walking distance, including restaurants and Saenger Theatre.
Very nice and helpful staff.
Lobby and general decor.
Bedroom is VERY small.
Only one working elevator during my entire stay for a 10 story hotel.
Bath towels so threadbare they actually hurt to use.
Non-functioning ice machine on my floor - was invited to go up two flights if I wanted ice, rather than offering to bring to me (I didn't break the machine, you know).
Overall, in my opinion, it is an OK option for staying in NOLA if you want to be very close to the French Quarter, but don't want to worry about noise or safety issues. I would use again without hesitation if I got a very good deal on price. less
