Rarely does a chain hotel excel to the extent of a rave review . . .
though the lady ownership of this one really accomplishes a fine caliber indeed~~!
A few weeks prior to scheduled cancer surgery, I drove to Mt. Vernon to explore
which hotel might suit for a two night stay . . .
On arrival, was cheerfully greeted by Tia, at the front desk.
She kindly showed me around, and I chose a wonderful room on the top floor.
She booked it for me,
and also indicated she would be on duty the afternoon of arrival.
Her personal kindness, interest and style impressed immediately, and
I relaxed a bit about the unfortunate reason for the visit later.
During our tour, I noted lovely 20' high ceilings,
long hanging fixtures,
exquisite floral and furniture arrangements,
and deeply recessed entry doors to the rooms.
Quiet elegance . . . inviting style for the older age of this facility,
though updated nicely!
The rooms are large and well appointed, also.
Ample free parking, and their new Bistro is close to opening, which will be a great benefit, especially for guests who wish to dine nearby. Sorry to have missed that.
The office has an array of on site security cameras, to watch over the premises 24/7.
Linens are ample and clean; lots of pillows on the beds!
Abundant ablution supplies, also, such as body soap,
shampoo and conditioners mounted in the shower/tub,
and wrapped soap at the sink.
Refrigerator, microwave, coffee and maker, large counter and sink in the bedroom; handy for making drinks and bringing along your own food, if wanted.
Home away from home . . . large Samsung TV with Comcast service, also.
Didn't much enjoy the medical reason for being here, but cannot overly-praise this
Didn't get to meet Kae, the owner, though managed a glimpse of her flitting about, ensuring things were running smoothly! Her 'hands-on' involvement clearly show
At check out, Macy surprised me with a 'for the drive home' bag,
chocolate mints and water,
along with a personal, hand-written thank you from her on the bottom of the billing statement; a first indeed for me,
after decades of travel and hotel living!
Thank you deeply, both 'people' and 'place' for ensuring such comfort and kindness
during what was otherwise a rather stressful visit to Mt. Vernon! less
