We've stayed at Best Western Plus's many times, especially when traveling with our mini-Schnauzer. We were visiting a friend who had just gotten a kidney transplant at Swedish Hospital and chose Silverdale because the reviews were good and the price was right.
It was quite a ways from Seattle, but the views and wonderful breakfast buffet seem to make it worth it. We took the ferry from Seattle to Bremerton. The traffic jams much of the way from Vancouver, WA, to Seattle had us weary of cars. The cost was a little over $30 for three of us - our daughter was with us - and the peaceful, easy ride was worth the cost.
The tide was out when we checked in, so the view from our room was mud with a smatter of buildings. It was also out when we checked out. We were in the pet-friendly room #118, and rooms on a different part of the property had a better water view. The trails for walking our dog were very nice and afforded a better view of the water.
The room was nice. I especially liked the dispensers for soap, shampoo, etc. The room had enough space that it didn't feel cramped with two queen beds.
We were really looking forward to a hearty breakfast before we checked out the next morning. The reviews for the buffet were very positive. The thing really driving our expectations was the fee. The vast majority of Best Westerns we'd stayed at had a good breakfast buffet as part of the fee. We were going to be charged an extra $5.45, so we expected something more than the regular fare. We were sadly mistaken. The buffet was good but was nothing more than we'd had before. The view from our table was amazing, though. I will say that we had a kind chef make us bacon, even though the slot labeled "bacon" was empty and none was offered. Our daughter has to eat a diet rich in high-fat foods, and she was really looking forward to having the bacon. My husband didn't even mention that, just asked where the bacon was. This kind gentleman offered to make us some, and he did. We don't regret eating at the hotel; just wish we'd known it was the regular fare, only at a price.
We would probably not stay here again if we were visiting the Seattle area. For what the ferry cost, plus the extra for a standard BW buffet, we could have stayed closer for the same cost or less, and enjoyed our stay just as much. (We skipped the ferry and drove back, expecting Sunday morning traffic to be better. It would have been if not for the same two long stretches of construction and one accident. We also had a $6 toll.) less
