This stay was booked to accompany a senior friend with a debilitating stroke to a family reunion. Due to his paralyzed left side we needed an ADA room. None were available but management did get a heads up about a disabled guest.
On the second morning, my friend headed outside for a brief walk - with his leg brace and cane - while I used the fitness center. Housekeeping worked on the room during our absence. Luckily I returned to the room first. On opening the door I caught a strong odor of disinfectant. It was obvious housekeeping had finished the room, so I entered. One step onto the tiled entryway and my feet were sliding out from under me like I was on a skating rink. I broke my fall with a quick grip on the bathroom doorjam,
Every bit of floor tiling - entryway and bathroom - had a pooled layer of water on it, like a reflecting pond. Had my disabled friend returned before me, we would be dealing with an ambulance ride. Trying to explain this situation to the housekeeping supervisor required the newly hired front desk clerk to function as translator. Housekeeping showed up immediately to dry the floor. One hour later they cleaned the main corridor and left the area of tiling between the stretches of carpeting just as wet as the earlier bathroom.
Aside from feel physically at risk in this Best Western, the breakfasts were a sad start to the day: dry, overcooked eggs, biscuits burned on one side, slabs of ham left on the warming tray until they required a steak knife. With so little competition, I guess this BW franchise doesn’t have to care about repeat customers or their safety. less

We do apologize that we were not able to meet all of your expectations during your recent stay! As you know there was a discount given from the general manager at the time you spoke with him. We do understand the safety issue and apologize that you think we would make this mistake purposely but we are taking steps to correct this issue with our housekeeping staff. We do hope that you will give us another chance again in the future.
