The thing you can't bring with you from home when you travel is human support when something goes wrong.
Arriving from Australia, the Lyft driver drove off with my luggage and later denied I had any luggage. That's it, said Lyft, tough luck. No human support (or phone number to actually speak to anyone) there. Heavy business schedule, had to find clothes quickly in another country. The sense of injustice and inconvenience of being messed about, and $1200 worth of clothing, medicine etc gone.
But the the staff here were so lovely and supportive - front desk, the bar (it was for a meal, not drowning sorrows!) And heading out shopping asking for directions, FJ at the front desk spontaneously gave me a $25 gift voucher for the store I was going to - from her own pocket. Seriously? What a beautiful thing to do? So which stood out to me? A crooked driver who probably dumped my luggage so he didn't have to return it? Or kindness and generosity like that? Hence the review.
And yes, the hotel was comfortable, close to restaurants and shops. They don't hesitate to drop you somewhere, gratis, if you don't have a vehicle here, like me. Never felt like I was putting them out.
Best Western, I hope you look after your staff, because, as a seriously frequent and global traveller, they're worth more than all the amenities. less
