Could be great....
First, the good: The room was lovely and clean, and clearly recently remodeled. The sitting area in the suite was spacious enough, and the kitchen decently equipped (although if you want to cook, you'll need to check out pots and pans from the front desk).
The location backs onto the park along the Welland Canal, which is quite lovely. It's a short drive or walk to downtown Welland, making it convenient as well.
The breakfast is exactly what we've come to expect in a breakfast-included hotel - eggs, meat, an assortment of breads, pastries, and bagels, pancakes, yogourt, coffee, joice.
Unfortunately, I don't know whether this is because the hallways were being renovated - no wallpaper or paint on the walls - but the hall is quite noisy (and we were on the 3rd floor). The hotel, being pretty much the only game in town, seems to be a favorite choice for teams, or at least that was true for the weekend on which we stayed - two nights, two different teams. Anything going on in the hallway echoed into our room. Also because the hallway was under renovation, it was quite unpleasant in the hall - poorly lit, and uncovered walls. That said, I'm sure it will be another matter when it is finished.
The bizarre thing, though, was the bathmat (the rubber one that goes in the tub so you don't slip. We didn't have one, and when we asked one of the staff, she said that it has to be checked out from the front desk. She went to get one for us, but this seems to be unreasonable at best - how expensive can they be? - and unsafe at worst. My husband is disabled, so shower safety is a concern. Interestingly, there is a grab bar only on the far side of the tub as well, making getting into and out of the shower a bit more effort than it needs to be. less

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, we value your feedback. I do apologize for the lack of wallcovering and poor lighting in the hallways, as our hallways are being renovated, we are installing new wall vinyl, carpeting and lighting. We do have a pots & pan system in the hotel, you just need to request a kit from the front desk and one of our staff will be more than happy to bring it to your suite. We are concerned with our guests shower safety, the reason we do not have rubber bath mats in the suites is because we clean and sterilize them after each guest use, so we leave them at the front desk, they are available upon request. Any future reservations, may I suggest, we do have 2 suites that have 1 queen bed in the bedroom that have walk-in accessible showers, this may be more convenient and safer for your husband. Again we thank you for your comments and for your loyalty to our brand.
