Upon arrival the the hotel we was greeted by a very friendly accommodating receptionist, who very kindly pulled out all the stops to get our room ready before we left to attend a Wedding not far from the hotel. We arrived back around midnight after a long tiring day and finally got to appreciate our room. The room was lovely and clean and also quite spacious, much more than we expected as it was only a place to put our heads down. The first thing my partner said when he sat on the bed was how firm it was, firm was an understatement. Now I appreciate everyone likes different types of mattress's but this was like sleeping on a pile of bricks! Both my partner and I hardly slept because neither of us could get comfy! Like I've already said I appreciate all mattress's are different so decided not to report this when we checked out as overall the hotel is lovely and quite quirky. I woke up with a dull pain in my back but didn't think anything of it, since arriving home this has got worse which I can only put it down to the bed. I do not suffer from back problems and haven't before so the bed would be the only thing to trigger it. Overall really lovely hotel with very nice staff... but only stay there if you don't mind sleeping (spending the night not sleeping trying to get comfy!) on what feels like a pile of bricks! less

I would firstly like to thank you for your review regarding your recent stay and I appreciate the time you took to write it.
I’m happy to read our receptionist was able to get you into your room earlier than expected, we do always try to go above and beyond for our guests and on this occasion I can see it was achieved.
However I am sorry to read that you did not have a comfortable nights sleep but as you have rightly mentioned this is a personal preference and unfortunately we can not always get it right for everyone. I will have this mattress investigated and checked for any issues, if we find the mattress to be unacceptable as per your review we will replace it if needed.
